Dreamers newsletter 4th June 2026

Posted By dreamersfolk on Jun 5, 2026

Hello to all

I didn’t really plan to write a Newsletter this week as there is not much new to tell you about but I can’t resist the temptation to celebrate a fantastic evening at the Club last Sunday with three excellent visitors performing as well as an array of regulars, all on good form. A good variety of offerings too and it was great to hear the visitors all saying they will be back whenever they are around. That’s Dreamers at its best.

And, of course, it followed on from Pip’s birthday bash the previous day. Many thanks to her and to Robin for that, lots of food and music. We have another birthday coming up this Sunday, another singers night with cake promised!

The following Sunday, June 14th, we have our next guests who are the Anna Anise Trio. Anna presents new work that brings rhythmic energy and a lament-tinged optimism to the evolving sound of Kernewek in song. They are releasing a debut bilingual album, Aneth (meaning ‘marvel’ or ‘wonder’ in Cornish) set for release later in 2026.

That weekend, from 12th to 14th June has the fantastic Falmouth Shanty Festival with over ninety groups performing across Falmouth’s waterfront and town centre. The easiest was to plan your perfect festival weekend is to download the “Falmouth Sea Shanty” app. where you’ll find the complete schedule with real-time updates across all three days. There’s also a version at Sea-Shanty-Programme-2026-V4.pdf

The visit of the Anna Anise Trio is the first of two evenings with a special Cornish flavour as we also have a special event with the Red River Singers on 28th June in a relaunch of Hilary Coleman and Sally Burley’s book “Shout Kernow” which originally came from a journey around Cornwall visiting pubs where they know the tradition of Cornish harmony singing was taking place.

That’s all for this week, see you on Sunday.

All the best

Nigel
