Dreamers newsletter 7th May 2026

Welcome to this week’s Dreamers Newsletter

For once we had no visitors from out of county on Sunday but it was a very busy night indeed with, by my count, no less than 18 separate performers from regulars which is a real testament to the success of the Club at the moment, particularly on an evening which started off rather wet. It was lovely to see Ruth back and singing. We also heard about the new album from Jonathan and Jill – all their own work and available at the Club.

This Sunday, 10th May, we have a guest in the shape of Enda McCabe from Connemara. Expect traditional and original songs in Gaelic as well as English linked by stories, most, but not all, of which are based on personal experience. A very experienced musician who has several CDs to his name and has performed with many other acclaimed musicians. Should be a good evening.

George Chippendale, from Penzance F/C and a former member of Baldricks Plan, has  organised a concert in memory of Peter Wray at the Bath Inn in Penzance on Wednesday 27 May, 19:00 – 22:30. Numbers are strictly limited to 50 so please be sure to contact George if you would like to be there – gchippendale@btinternet.com 07967 207489. Performers have already been organised.

Baldricks Plan, in their current line-up,  are among the performers listed for the Falmouth Shanty Festival, only a few short weeks away now on 14th to 16th June. The latest list of performers (also including Rum and Shrub) is at Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival

Missing from the line-up this year are Flash Jack but you can see Mike and Rosie Longhurst with Matt Butcher at the West Somerset Festival at Minehead the following weekend, 19th to 21st June, along with Rob Barratt and others. More info at www.westsomersetfolkfestival.co.uk

And the weekend after that and rather nearer to us, on Saturday 27th June, there’s Phil Beer, also with Kana, at Redruth Wesley in Wesley St at 7.30. Tickets at Phil Beer Redruth Tickets, Wesley Buildings Jun 27, 2026 | Bandsintown

As usual there’s less online in summer with Festivals and other events. Just a reminder that John Kelly and friends, as mentioned last week, are on Live to Your Living Room tomorrow, Friday 8th May at 8.00. Buy tickets – John Kelly & Friends – Zoom

That’s all for this week. Don’t forget to let me know if you are performing anywhere yourselves or know of other events which might be of interest.

All the best for now and hope to see you on Sunday for Enda McCabe.
