Hi and welcome to a short Newsletter this week.
There’s not a lot going on until we get more into February so we are dependent on our own resources – nothing wrong with that if we can have evenoings like last Sunday’s at Dreamers – many thanks to Alistair not only for his performances and songs but also for all the work of preparation which must have been involved. Thanks too to Ruth for guiding us through a busy evening.
Thanks also to all those who came along to the Zoom Folk Club the previous evening. As is often the case in winter with less competing attractions and the temptation to stay by your own fireside, we had another excellent turnout, lots of high quality performers, six different countries and a temperature range from -6C in Oslo to 40C in Melbourne. The next Zoom session is on 28th February.
At Dreamers, we have two singers nights now before our next guests, The Bray Family Band on 15th February.
Cornwall Folk Festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend is still selling early bird tickets and has just announced a Friday evening programme of three west Country performers who impressed last year so have been invited back. This is Martha Woods from Lostwithiel, Wake the River from Falmouth and the duo, St Fian, from Somerset. More info and tickets from Festival Tickets – Cornwall Folk Festival
Nothing much that I can see on line this week except for a zoom session run by our good friend Mark Dowding who was a guest at Dreamers last year and makes a point of coming along on his frequent visits to Cornwall. This is tonight. 29th January at 8.15 ao do let me know if you would like the link. They are popular sessions with a wide range of performers. Live to Your Living Room has a big programme coming up next month and beyond but I’ll cover that nearer the time.
That’s all for this week. I hope everyone is safe, warm and managing to avoid the floods. Hope to see you on Sunday night.
All the best
Nigel
