After our great evening with Janie Meneelly and Rob van Sante, we had another good singers night at the Club last Sunday, plenty of performers and all well organised by Ruth as MC. It was especially good to see Rusty back at the Club again. We now have one more singers night this Sunday 7th December before we move into the Festive season proper.
Our renowned Dreamers Christmas Party is on Sunday 14th December. Admission is free but there’s a £10 charge for the buffet food (please let Jill know and pay her if you are coming so she can manage numbers). Pip Franklin is MC for the night. All offerings welcome – in past years, some of us have offered entertaining (?) sketches and it would be good if you could let him know if that’s what you have in mind but more conventional Club material is equally welcome. The following Sunday, 21st December, we’ll have seasonal songs and material before the Club closes for Christmas. We reopen on Sunday 4th January with very special guests in Baldricks Plan
It was good to see past and present members of Baldricks Plan at Penzance Folk Club yesterday for an excellent evening with Martin Wyndham-Reid as their guest – the room was packed (including a good number of Dreamers regulars) following some very effective marketing. Some great performances from the floor too, all enthusiastically MC’d by Lyn. The Penzance Folk Club evening of seasonal stuff is on 17th December – see their web-site for details.
Plenty of other seasonal events coming up so do let me know if you have anything you’d like me to mention next week. For now:-

Live to Your Living Room has two other events of interest in the next week:-
On Saturday 6TH December at 8.00, there’s Charlie Dore in a hybrid gig from the ACE Space in Newbury. She’ll be playing alongside multi-instrumentalist Gareth Huw Davies. Tender, witty, and dark lyrics, combined with beautiful, breathtaking vocals – Charlie covers an extensive range of subject matters in her songs, from the sublime to the ridiculous with lots of in-between-songs storytelling too – Buy tickets – Charlie Dore – Zoom
And on Tuesday 9th December at 7.30, the same online site has St Agnes Fountain, well-known and loved for their Christmassy tours. They’ll be presenting their new CD Flakes and Flurries, as well as a selection of traditional festive favourites. Bbrand new songs and beloved carols, all sung in the beautiful ‘Aggie’ style. Buy tickets for St Agnes Fountain – St Agnes Fountain – Zoom
Finally, the end on a sad note as I seem to have done too often this last year, We’ve heard of the passing of Tori Carver, an enthusiastic supporter of live music in West Cornwall for many years. and a regular at the Club in the early days when it met nearer to St Ives. Toni died in his Office at the St Ives Times and Echo on 14th November. Sadly that also means the end of the paper. It’s a private funeral.
That’s all for this week, hope to see you on Sunday
All the best
Nigel
