Dreamers newsletter 21st August 2025

Posted By dreamersfolk on Aug 28, 2025

Hi and welcome to another week’s Dreamers Newsletter.

A good evening again at the Club last week and thanks to Pip (Franklin) for stepping in as MC and for organising the evening so that everyone got their share of performance time. Two more singers nights before our next guests, Barron Brady, on 7th September followed, two weeks later, by  another duo in Milton Hyde.

This coming weekend, starting tonight, is, of course, the Cornwall Folk Festival inWadebridge with the usual wide range of attractions. Headline names are The Henry Girls, Merry Hell, The Magpies, Tim Edey and Jackie Oates with Mike Cosgrave. Lots of others too – all the detail of who’s on, when and where is at https://cornwallfolkfestival.com/wp/

And also this weekend, we have the October edition of the Cornish Zoom Folk Club from your own Living Room where we hope to have the usual range of performers and listeners from far and wide, perhaps including some newcomers from overseas following some advertising within the zoom community. At 7.30 on  Saturday 23rd August.
Early notice for your diary of some online dates on Live to Your Living Room (I’ll try to remind with more detail nearer the time) –

5th September – Simpson, Cutting and Kerr

11th September – Greg Russell

14th September – Leon Rosselson and Robb Johnson

Plenty more later in September too.

Another new episode on Folk on Foot with former Trembling Bells bandmateAlex Rex and Lavinia Blackwall going first to Govan Old Church in Glasgow to see ancient Viking burial stones – and sing in unaccompanied harmony in the glorious acoustic. Then they’re off to the hutting community at Carbeth in the countryside outside the city where residents lovingly decorate their wooden homes. Home | Folk on Foot

That’s all for now, hope to see you on Sunday at Dreamers

All the best

Nigel
