Hi and welcome to another Dreamers Newsletter.
Another good session last week with plenty of good songs and laughter so thanks to all who came along – not least to Mary and Ken who have been with us for the last 3 weeks and will now be on their way back to Derbyshire (and snow!).
Another singers night this coming Sunday, 24th November, followed on 1st December by the visit of our very good friends Rum and Shrub for what will be an excellent evening of shanties, not to be missed. Then another singers night on 8th December followed by the Christmas programmes on 15th and 22nd December. Do let Jonathan know if you are planning anything special on 15th, just in case it clashes with anything planned by someone else. A reminder that the Club is closed on 29th December.
The next session of the Cornish Zoom Folk Club is this coming Saturday, 23rd November, starting at 7.30 (doors open a bit earlier). We’re expecting a busy night with performers from all over the world – just let me know if you don’t already get the link. The zoom session will also go ahead on 28th December as usual.
Plenty going on online as the nights have drawn in
Modest competition for the Cornish Zoom this weekend from an online showing of Bellowhead live at the Glasshouse International Centre at 8.45. Its their 20th Anniversary tour. Tickets £20 from FolkScape Live
Next Saturday, 30th November, at 7.00 p.m., is an opportunity to see past Dreamers guests, Ninebarrow, in their last live concert of the year from their own dining room – Online Concerts | The Ninebarrow Shop
New on “Folk on Foot” is an opportunity to delve into the history of madness – a walk with Lunatraktors in the grounds of Bethlem Royal Hospital in South London. The Hospital was founded in the 13th Century by monks and nicknamed “Bedlam”. The duo perform songs inspired by the place including a mash-up of Tom O’Bedlam, “Mad Maudlin” and “Through Moorfields”. All at Lunatraktors at the Bethlem Royal Hospital
And a number of things coming up on Live to Your Living Room(Events | Live Music Online Gig | Live To Your Living Room) – Tom Oakes on 4th December, Karine Polwart on 6th December and John Kirkpatrick with “Carolling and Crumpets” on 11th December. More about these in future if I can.
That’s all for now. No Newsletter next week as we’ll be away for a few days (but back in time for Rum and Shrub on 1st December – see you there!
All the best
Nigel
