A real classic Dreamers night last Sunday with lots of regulars on top form to fill the evening and the room. Let’s hope we can look forward to two more singers nights like that this coming Sunday and then on Sunday 24th November.
After that we are into December events and celebrations with the visit of Rum and Shrub on 1st December and the Dreamers Christmas meal, subsidised by the club and, hopefully, restoration of the Christmas Review evening after that when those who want can entertain (?) us all with a range of sketches and similar material – absolutely not compulsory and our usual musical fare is just as welcome.
Next Saturday, 23rd November, sees the next session of the Cornish Zoom Folk Club. This will be the last session before Christmas (though there will be a session on 28th December).
Further ahead and further away, the Cornwall Folk Festival next year runs from Thursday 21st August to Monday 25th August in Wadebridge. Earlybird tickets are already on sale at Full Festival Earlybird Tickets – Cornwall Folk Festival. Some info on the booked artists is also available there and there’s a quiz night fundraiser at the Ship Inn, Gonvena Hill, Wadebridge on Wednesday 4th December at 7.30 – tickets £5 from Cornwall Folk Fest December Quiz Night – Cornwall Folk Festival
Endelienta Arts tell me there’s another concert in St Endellion Church on Saturday 23rd November with Chris Ricketts and a female shanty crew from Port Isaac – Port Isaac Gulls. You can book on line at Endelienta Arts | Professional Arts Organisation, North Cornwall
Next Thursday, 21st November, there’s a hybrid gig from Rosslyn Court at 7.30 with Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter – songs about shipyards, prostitutes, trips to the seaside, self-deprecating amusing songs and protest anthems. Hybrid gig, so you can also go along in person. The first hour will be livestreamed (donations encouraged). The second half will be exclusively for the in-person audience. Also available to watch on demand afterwards.
Lots more coming up online from a range of sites in the run-up to Christmas including Bellowhead, Andy Cutting & Ann Niepold, Ninebarrow, The Furrow Collective, Karine Polwart and John Kirkpatrick. More detail of all these next week when I have a bit more time.
That’s all for now this week, hope to see you at Dreamers on Sunday night
All the best
Nigel
