Welcome to this week’s Dreamers Newsletter. With various visitors arriving here over the next couple of weeks, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to put together the next one so let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Easter and also to remind you that the clocks go forward in the early hours of Easter Day, Sunday 31st March
Another good singers night at the Club last Sunday with plenty of regulars. Singers nights again this Sunday, 24th March and the next one, 31st, before our next guest, Harry Glasson, a familiar name to all and eagerly awaited.
As Jonathan told us last Sunday, next year, 2025 is the 25th anniversary of the start of Dreamers and we ought to find some special way of marking the occasion – any ideas to Jonathan please.
This week also marks the 4th anniversary of the covid lockdown when, of course, the Club had to be closed. That led, in turn, to the start of this Newsletter as a way on which we could keep in touch with each other and share news. It also led to the start of the original “Watch” Parties organised by Rob and Sue Ford who put a huge effort into it. That, in turn, led to the Cornwall Zoom Folk Club which not only kept us in touch with each other and our music but also led to many new friends in the UK and all round the world. The March session of the Zoom is this Saturday, 23rd March starting at 7.30. If you need the link, just let me know.
On line, there are 2 events next Thursday, 28th March:-
· Rosslyn Court hosts a live session with Lewis Wood, known for his work with Granny’s Attic, a folk violinist and multi-instrumentalist, based in Oxfordshire. That’s at 7.30 – Lewis Wood – Rosslyn Court
· Half an hour later, at 8.00, Live to Your Living Room features Johnny Campbell from northern England with his latest album “True North”, a collection of traditional northern folk songs. That’s at Johnny Campbell | Online Gig | Live to Your Living Room
And, in case, I can’t manage a Newsletter before then, a date to look forward to is Saturday 6th April (8.00) when Live to Your Living Room has the increasingly well-known Angeline Morrison – Angeline Morrison | Online Gig | Live to Your Living Room
That’s all for now, hope to see you at Dreamers on Sunday night.
All the best
Nigel
