Dreamers newsletter 20th April 2023

Posted By dreamersfolk on Apr 22, 2023

Hello and welcome to this week’s Dreamers Newsletter. A bit short as it’s a very busy day today.

We had a great night at the Club on Sunday with the visit of The Crows, some great songs and lots of chorus songs which all went down with typical Dreamers enthusiasm and nearly blew the roof off. Thanks to our guests, to all regulars who performed so well and to all who came along too. Another guest night coming up but this time NOT on Sunday but on MONDAY (24th April), as always at the Victoria in Four Lanes. Our guest will be Steve Hicks and Lynn Goulbourn – have a look at the Dreamers website for some cracking reviews. I know the change to a Monday is not ideal but do get along if you can to give them a warm welcome. Next guest after that will be on 14th May with the visit of Tom Lewis.

Also coming up, this Saturday (22nd) is the April session of the Cornish Zoom Folk Club. Like various other zoom sessions we go to, this seems to maintain its popularity and the opportunity to hear different performers from other parts of the Uk and the world offers a welcome addition to the folk scene. The session starts at 7.30 and runs to about 10.00 with a short interval – if you would like the link, just let me know (it goes out on Friday).

A reminder that the Rosslyn Court sitre features John Connolly tonight, Thursday 20th April, from 7.30 to 8.30. Internationally renowned and the author of Fuiddlers Green, the first hour is free online  (donations requested) on youtube at John Connolly – YouTube.

Another online event and a new one to me, next Wednesday April is Hushman, the new solo project from Ewan MacPherson, known for his work with Salt House and the fantastic Shooglenifty. Ewan is a singer/songwriter, instrumentalist and music producer, with a wide range of experience as a performer and in the studio.  Tickets from https://livetoyourlivingroom.com/events/hushman/

We’re getting nearer to the Falmouth Shanty Festival weekend which is from Friday 16th to Sunday 20th June this year. The programme should be available soon – keep an eye on Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival (falmouthseashanty.co.uk) for that and all sorts of other information. And more tickets now on sale for Sidmouth concerts on their website.

That’s all for now, all the best
