Dreamers newsletter 9th March 2023

Posted By dreamersfolk on Mar 9, 2023

Welcome to this week’s Dreamers Newsletter. A quiet week for once.

We were unable to make the Club last weekend but I’m sure everyone enjoyed Mike Silver as our guest. A little gap now before our next guests, The Crows, with some very well-known names, on 16th April. We can look forward to that and to other guests but for now we can all enjoy our own Singers Nights (which often seem to have a very high standard). The next Cornish Zoom session is on 25th March

Sale of “Tier 1” tickets for the Sidmouth Festival ends on 19th March. On International Womens Day, the organisers asked some women in their team to nominate some favourite artists booked – picks include Angeline Morrison, The Young’uns and a number of instrumentalists including Kathryn Tickell, Brighde Chaimbeul (on Scottish small pipes) and Cerys Hafana from Wales. Tickets for these and others from Tickets 2023 – The Sidmouth Folk Festival

Oh and Wadebridge Festival have announced the name of their “mystery” act – no stranger to many of us, it’s Seth Lakeman. The Festival is still only selling full festival early bird tickets, as well as individual tickets to the Teyr and Sarah McQuaid Betjeman Sessions. Earlybird Full Festival Tickets – Cornwall Folk Festival

Rosslyn Court has a hybrid gig tonight, Thursday 9th March at 7.30. This is Girl Talk – Power of Women Festival with artists including Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter, Helen North and our good friends Pat Turner and Lynne Heraud. The first hour is livestreamed free and the second half is g=for the in-person audience only. The livestream is on youtube – POW – YouTube  On Monday 13th March at 8.00, Live to Your Living Room features the The Rheingans Sisters, playful, powerful and richly connecting music that is wholly contemporary while deeply anchored in folk traditions. Performing live, the sisters are inimitable; full-hearted performers and spontaneous, on-stage improvisors, with adventurous use of fiddles, voices, banjo, bansitar, tambourin à cordes, spoken word, dancing feet and percussion. The Rheingans Sisters | Live To Your Living Room That’s all for this week, hope to see you on Sunday Nigel
