Cornwall Zoom Folk Club

Posted By dreamersfolk on Feb 14, 2022

Hi

Less than two weeks to go now to the opening night of the Cornish Zoom Folk Club and we hope to see lots of you there for a great evening of music. 26th February is the date for your diaries (and then 26th March).

What’s going to happen?

We’ll send out the link a day or two before each session. We’ll start at 7.30 and open the doors around 7.15 for a bit of chat and so the MCs can see who’s there and work out the programme. Thanks to all who have offered to MC – we’ve got some faces which will be familiar to regulars at the Dreamers zoom sessions for the first few sessions and will see how it goes after that.

We’ll aim to follow the same format as the Dreamers Zooms with 2 halves of around an hour, a short interval/chat and finishing around 9.45 p.m.. We can stay on for a short while after that for some more chat if folk want. Unless we get overwhelmed by numbers, there should certainly be time for everyone to have one offering. After that it depends on numbers and the MCs for the night will have to manage that. Everyone is asked to mute while others are performing.

Obviously other clubs do things in different ways so none of this is cast in stone. One of the beauties of zoom is that we don’t need lots of organisation. The local MC group (John & Marion, Alistair, Malcolm, Hilary, Jane and I) have put this together as it seems to have worked well in the past but we can certainly look at changes in future.

The other beauty of zoom is, of course, that we can meet and get to know friends from many different places with different material which we wouldn’t otherwise hear. Over time we hope to welcome many of you in Cornwall and to be able to visit your clubs on our own travels.

Hope to see you in two weeks time. Until then, stay safe and all the best!

P.S. If you’d rather not receive messages about this Folk Zoom in future please let me know.
