DESCRIPTION:Anna Anise is a Cornish singer-songwriter and folk musician whose music captures the spirit of her homeland – rugged\, raw\, and deeply heartfelt. From stories of folklore to fresh perspectives on raw emotions\, Anna’s songs are a celebration of authenticity\, with an energy is impossible to miss—sincere\, uplifting\, and deeply grounded.  Whether she’s crafting tender ballads or uplifting anthems that stir joy and introspection\, she blends traditional folk elements with a modern twist\, creating a sound that feels timeless. \n\n\n\nOutside of her music\, Anna is passionate about helping other artists thrive. She’s the director of CHORUS Songwriting\, a non-profit that runs songwriting retreats and events to help musicians collaborate\, grow their careers\, and support their well-being. \n\n\n\nWith a first-class degree in Songwriting from BIMM Bristol\, Anna is also a Churchill Fellow\, which sees her travelling to the USA to explore some of the world’s best songwriting camps. She’s a member of the Cornish Language vocal group Hireth and an alumni of the Endelienta Arts Cornish Language Residency. Anna has also been an artist in residence at Hawkwood College\, Brisons Veor and Halsway Manor Centre for Folk Arts. \n\n\n\nAs a performer\, Anna has played all over the UK\, from venues such as Green Note in London and Cobalt Studios in Newcastle to festivals like Green Man and Between the Trees. In 2024\, she co-headlined a spring tour with violinist and songwriter boci\, and completed an 18-date support tour with the folk trio Hands of the Heron. \n\n\n\nThis year\, Anna is focused on recording her next album\, gearing up for an exciting year of touring in 2026.

SUMMARY:Special Event - Shout with Red River Singers
DESCRIPTION:Shout Kernow – Adventures into the world of Cornish Pub singing \n\n\n\n‘A wave of sound hit me; voices harmonising and full of passion. It was good to just stand by and listen to the power of those united voices from across the land. Then I too joined in and we rolled from one song to the next.’ \n\n\n\nOver ten years ago Hilary Coleman and Sally Burley undertook a journey across the length and breadth of Cornwall\, visiting pubs where they knew the tradition of Cornish harmony singing was taking place. They recorded their findings which resulted in a book and audio tracks called Shout Kernow. \n\n\n\nNow this book is being re-launched along with a digital map of their travels which includes their diary and the entire recordings of the various evenings across Cornwall from the banks of the Tamar to the Isles of Scilly! \n\n\n\nCome and hear the tales of their adventures wonderfully illustrated with some of the songs sung by the Red River Singers and afterwards join in with some pub song classics! Song words will be available if you would like them and copies of Shout Kernow will be available to buy at the event. \n\n\n\nThe Red River Singers are based in the mining heartland of Cornwall and are an enthusiastic folk choir whose aim is to keep the spirit of Cornwall alive in song. Since their formation in 2012\, they’ve become well known locally\, through their passion for Cornish song and regularly sing at the Countryman Inn \n\n\n\n“Wonderful talk and songs. Informative\, moving and inclusive.” Penzance Lit Fest
