He spent several years building up his business of Signwriting and building and restoring Gypsy Wagons.\nNick has lived an amazing life. From a rough childhood in South London\, he has lived on his wits since he left home at eighteen; travelling half way round the world\, living on the road with the Travelling Folk and learning their songs\, working as a TV and Film Extra\, broadcaster\, Narrowboat painter\, writer\, Folklorist\, Guitar Teacher and General Dealer.\nEvery song Nick sings has a story attached to it\, and his gigs are as informative as they are entertaining.\nNick and Mally now live happily in East Lancashire surrounded by Moorland and Fells.

He performs self-written and West Country songs\, English\, Irish and Scottish folk and other music as varied as Jimmie Rodgers\,the Louvin Brothers\, Richard Thompson  and Randy Newman. He’s also one of the few to play 1920’s/ 30’s jazz on an authentic 1920’s instrument. \nHis smooth tenor vocals and unique concertina accompaniment have won him plaudits and fans over the years but it has only been since retiring from a long career as a Fleet Street Journalist that Geoff has truly spread his wings musically. \n2017 sees the release of Geoff’s debut album ‘After All These Years’. With a stellar line up of musical family and friends it showcases his talents perfectly and illustrates the high regard and affection in which he is held. \nREG MEUROSS -“( singer-songwriter) -” Proper living\, breathing\, strong heart-beating folk music.The whole album is gorgious\, beautifully recorded and deeply-rooted in the folk tradition with some excellent performances from all Geoff’s guests and very illustrious family.I recommend it immensely.

DESCRIPTION:Bakerfield’ are an acoustic duo from Staffordshire\, formed in 2010 after spending many years paying their dues in various musical fields. \nLoraine Baker (Vocals\, Double Bass\, Guitar\, Banjo\, Ukelele) has forged a career as a formidable Double Bass player\, in bands such as ‘The Bluebirds Cajun Band’\, ‘Baker’s Fabulous Boys’ Bluegrass band \, ‘Hackney Ramblers’ Cajun band\, ‘Chank a Chank’ Cajun band\, ‘The Southgators’ and ‘Shake the Roots’. \nShe has also earned a reputation as a fine vocalist with a singular voice that commands the attention of audiences everywhere\, and she plays acoustic guitar\, banjo and ukelele to supplement the dynamic sound of this duo. \nAs well as recording with her own bands Loraine has also appeared on CD’s of other artists\, most recently Folk artist Brian Peters’ Cd’s ‘Songs of Trial and Triumph’and ‘Gritstone Serenade’. \n[fvplayer id=”11″] \nPete Wakefield (Vocals\, Guitar\, Mandolin\, Harmonica) was\, for several years\, a member of Bob Dylan tribute band ‘With Bob on Our Side’ and is currently Lead Vocalist and Guitarist with ‘Shake the Roots’. A large chunk of ‘bakerfield’s material consists of Pete’s original work\, his song writing covering just about all areas from the surreal ‘Don’t Move\, There’s a Penguin in the Bed’ to the topical ‘The Man on the Street Died Today’ to the touchingly confessional ‘Boy in the Bubble’. \nAlso included in their repertoire are songs from American Folk artists including Steve Earle\, Guy Clark\, Bob Dylan\, Mark Erelli and Chuck Brodsky. \n‘Bakerfield’ have quickly become known as an extremely entertaining duo\, having their audiences reeling with laughter one minute and moved to tears the next; why not come along to their next gig; you won’t be disappointed!

They are now based in West Yorkshire\, but from 2001-2017 they lived in Cambridgeshire and much of their material is based on Mary’s research into unpublished locally collected versions of traditional songs\, presented in simple but well-crafted musical arrangements.
