Here we go!! We’ve set the date, we’ve ordered the “portaloo” for the Camping field, we’ve got a great venue with good beer & good food and we’ve asked for great weather for the weekend, all we need now, to make it a runaway success, is yourselves!!
Dreamers Folk Weekend starts on Friday evening with our Dreamers Ceilidh with a live band + caller, followed by a sing around song session ’til late.
Saturday 30th gets underway with our very popular “Instrument making workshop”, then a Blues session ’til lunch/quiz time. Afternoon we have a “Folk Weekend Choir” workshop, and for musicians a “Playing in a Band” workshop. There follows our “Road to Four Lanes” team game which raised much laughter last year. Saturday is rounded off with a Pub meal followed by “The Saturday Concert” a celebration of all the musical talent at Dreamers, including the bespoke talent produced in the earlier workshops!!
Sunday morning at 11am we have our “Gospel Session” in the church hall, a chance to chill with a coffee & good friends and sing songs in the great acoustic of Pencoys church hall. Sunday lunch is taken in the pub. The afternoon is your chance to ease back and play/sing in ad hoc groups in the conservatory or the pub garden.
Sunday evening concert is the main event of the weekend and this year our special guests are “Will Finn & Rosie Calvert” graduates of Newcastle University’s Folk & Traditional Music Degree course. Will Finn and Rosie Calvert are a folk- and traditionally-inspired musical duo from the North East of England. Their debut album, ‘Beneath This Place’, is due for release in 2018.
A full weekend ticket costs just £12, including entry to the Sunday evening concert & all workshops & sessions, the Ceilidh & 3 nights on the campsite!!! What a bargain!
