Bruce Watson breezed in to Dreamers Folk last night like a breath of fresh air. A totally unique singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Australia he gave us songs on topics from Yellow polka dot beanies, a manic ” Are we there yet?”to the sombre “Ballad of Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheener” about the hanging by white settlers of two Aboriginal young men in 1842.
A smaller than usual Dreamers audience, many away in Spain, were enthralled by the stories in the songs and the self deprecating humour from this antipodean called Bruce!! I’m listening to his latest CD “Mosaic” as I write and enjoying it very much, well produced, balanced with great backing vocals and quality musical accompaniment.
If you didn’t get to see Bruce at Dreamers, fear not, next Friday 11th October, Bruce will be playing at Bodmin Folk Club, at the Old Library. Go and see him and buy a CD, you won’t be disappointed!
