Dreamers newsletter 4th September 2025

Posted By dreamersfolk on Sep 5, 2025

Hi, time for this week’s Dreamers Newsletter and, I suppose, the first of Autumn.

Thanks to all for a good evening at the Club last Sunday with plenty of humour and good performances, notably Jonathan singing in Cornish for the first time, a great triumph.

This Sunday we welcome our first September guests in the shape of Barron Brady. Ros Brady and Si Barron are contemporary songwriters and interpreters of traditional English folk song, from Devon. Simon’s guitar with Ros’s harmonium and whistles underline their harmony singing. They have a dynamic acoustic style combining joy and verve with a wide range of songs ranging from Devon legend to coffee drinking mermaids. Sounds like a lively evening. After that we have another singers night on 14th September followed by our second September guests, Milton Hyde on 21st September.

A reminder that Penzance Folk Club feature Alistair Brown as their guest on Wednesday 10th September. 7.30 at the Bath Inn,  Cornwall Terrace, £8 for members and £10 for non-members. A great opportunity to hear Alistair show his versatility at greater length than we usually have at Dreamers.

As I mentioned last week, Martin Simpson, Andy Cutting and Nancy Kerr are on Live to Your Living Room tomorrow 5th September at 8.00 in a live gig from Sheffield – Buy tickets – Simpson Cutting Kerr – Zoom The site then features Greg Russell next Thursday 11th September (Buy tickets – Greg Russell – Zoom)

That’s all for this week, hope to see you at the Club for Barron Brady on Sunday

All the best

Nigel
